The presence of a doula compliments a
father's role and strengthens it.

The father benefits in many ways from having a
doula. He may find that the doula's presence
relaxes him and gives him more confidence,
reducing much of the pressure he may feel.

The love a father shares with the mother and his
child, and his need to nurture and protect his
family, are priceless gifts that only he can
provide. With both the father and a doula at birth,
a mother can have the best of both worlds; her
partner's loving care and attention and the
doula's expertise and guidance during the birth.

In this way, fathers can experience fully the joy
and wonder of watching their babies come into
the world.
